Another Win For Montrose ABC

05th May 2009

(Mal Milne with some of the Club Members at training)

Following his comfortable win in Aberdeen the previous week, Malcolm Milne, Light Heavyweight boxer from Montrose ABC continued on the positive start to his boxing career with a knock out win in the second round against Malcolm Ferguson from Fort William.
The fight was held on Friday first of May at the Arbroath Community Centre.
Sticking to the game plan he had worked on with head coach, Scott Graham, the first round was all about finding out his opponent's weaknesses. The second round however, was quite different as Mal began to probe Feguson's defence with a couple of good strong punches. Mid way through the second round he unleashed a decisive combination of blows to the head, and his opponent fell to the canvas.
The referee ended the fight as the boxer from Fort William failed to beat the count.

Head Coach Scott Graham was very happy with Mal's performance and is looking forward to more success for his boxer.
He is pleased with the club's development and how well the members are progressing.

Fellow coach Rory Thompson has now passed his judge's exam and the club are hoping to hold a show for the people of Montrose later in the year, if they find a venue and sponsors.
This is will be the first time in a number of years that boxing has come to Montrose, and the coaches and boxers should be congratulated for the success they have gained in such a short space of time.

As the club continue to build up membership and coaching/training staff, it is necessary in the short term to limit training nights. Mondays are for Juniors and non boxer members, while Wednesdays are for club members who are preparing for bouts, or have represented the club.
Hopefully, as more staff come on board, the number of nights will be increased.
